Post Brexit; Diana Taverner, the head of MI5 has made a deal with the devil to quietly avenge the deaths of civilians on home soil but it hasn’t gone unnoticed. Not by Jackson Lamb; the spy gone to seed whose team of misfits are being more accident prone than usual. Or by the up and coming media mogul who wants to make the news rather than reporting it. Nor by the devil himself, who has compromised Lady Di in ways she can't yet even imagine.
And there are consequences for Diana's action such as the pair of Russian assassins dispatched to dispatch the fabled hit squad who took out their colleague and a slow horse returned from the underworld.
N.B.This is a perfect jumping in point to the series but purists can also start from the beginning with Slow Horses, which is where River Cartwright, trainee spy, accidently shuts down Kings Cross station at rush hour. His punishment? Slough House.
