The Grave’s a Fine and Private Place, Alan Bradley

Dogger, the De Luce family retainer suggests a river trip to take Flavia and her sisters’ minds off their recent terrible loss and Flavia puts her hand into another mystery, literally. Drifting past a nearby village where the Vicar offed three members of his congregation by means of communion wine laced with cyanide Flavia pulls a dead body from the water and Dogger and the trio of De Luce’s are asked to stay in the village until the murderer is caught. Flavia cannot resist the challenge to solve the murder before the local policeman can file it away under ‘accident’. With Dogger’s help she attacks the case but her determination to catch a killer could prove to be the death of her.
